Accuracy is strongest with a close, well-lit photo that shows healthy grass blades; mixed, dormant, damaged, or distant lawns can reduce certainty. Every result includes practical care guidance, and a clear photo is always the best starting point.
What grass types can the app identify?
GrassID identifies common cool-season and warm-season lawn grasses, including Bermuda, Kentucky Bluegrass, St. Augustine, Zoysia, Perennial Ryegrass, Tall Fescue, Fine Fescue, Centipede, Kikuyu, and regional varieties. It can also flag when a photo does not show enough grass for a reliable match.
Is the app free to use?
You can use one complimentary online grass identification without payment details. For a complete lawn identification and diagnosis, choose a one-time online analysis for $9.99. GrassID Annual is $49.99 per year and includes repeated grass identifications and lawn-problem diagnoses during an active subscription. The iPhone app is free to download and may offer separate in-app purchases.
Does it work offline?
The online GrassID analysis requires an internet connection because photos are securely processed by our AI service. Results, including identification details and lawn-care recommendations, are then shown in your browser. The native iPhone app may offer features that differ from the web experience.
